Update – It Did Not Block Out
I carefully patted it into shape before I went to bed last night, and this is what I saw when I went out to check this morning. Sigh! OK – plan B. Or possibly C!

Version 2 is bound off and in for its soak before blocking! I’m provisionally happy with it. The only possible issue is that the top edge was rolling pretty badly despite being done in seed stitch. I’m hoping it will – say it with me – block out. But if it doesn’t, I have two… Continue reading Version 2 Done – I Think
The other day I saw an ad for a challenge to do 5 (mini) shawls in 5 days. Each day of this challenge you get an email with directions to knit a different miniature shawl. It sounded like a fun exercise, and I really considered it for a minute. But there’s already too much going… Continue reading Shawl Shapes – Challenge Edition
Version 2 is moving right along! I am using a different yarn this time – more like what people might use to knit it really. The Uptons I used for version 1 was hard-wearing, which was helpful for the first try, where I was ripping back as much as I was knitting. But it really… Continue reading Version 2
I haven’t got a lot of solid knitting in yesterday or today. I have actually gotten started with writing my cowl pattern and doing a version 2, incorporating some changes I decided on after working version 1. So there’s some knitting, but broken up with typing and figuring out Stitch Fiddle. What I did get… Continue reading Minor Progress
Big news in the knitting world a bit earlier this week involved the uncertain future of some long-established crafting magazines. Specifically, F + W Media is filing for bankruptcy. F + W is the parent company of Interweave Press, publishers of Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, Knitscene, and Spin Off, among other books and magazines. For… Continue reading Knitting Magazine Kerfuffle
Weel Riggit hat is done! Nothing like a super quick, cute project to keep you motivated for long involved ones. The pattern is by Kate Davies, and I used her Ard Thir yarn to knit it. The yarn is aran weight and is a blend of wool and alpaca. I love alpaca! Its very nice… Continue reading Weel Riggit Hat
My Bramen cowl is finished! This was a nice quick project and a good learning experience. I learned a new cast on and bind off, and got to do some good tuck stitch practice. And I get a nifty cowl out of it in the bargain 🙂 The cast on is the two-color long-tail cast… Continue reading Bramen Cowl Done!
The Bramen tuck stitch cowl is coming along! Once you have the hang of the stitch pattern, it moves along pretty well. The gradient of this yarn is fairly subtle, but interesting to watch develop. I’m hoping to have it done at some point tomorrow – more news at that point!
