Cowl Naming Survey

Help! I am naming impaired*, and would love your assistance in picking a name for my cowl. If you have been reading along, you know the cowl I am talking about. If not, it is this one here…

The second one in a different yarn is blocking, the pattern is mostly done. Now I need a name! Below are the ones I was kind of thinking about, along with several excellent suggestions from an earlier post:

  • Dilution
  • Dispersion
  • Dissipation
  • Dissolve
  • Mermaid’s Tale
  • Rainflow
  • Ripples**
  • Soluble

Please let me know which one you like best in the comments! Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

Coming up tomorrow: I swear I will write about something – anything- other than this cowl for the next couple of posts!

*When I say I am naming impaired, I am not kidding. As a child I named a small pet turtle “King of the Grizzlies”. Apparently I was very insistent about naming him this. My skills in this area have not improved.

** As per highlandheffalump’s excellent suggestion, I checked these names against the Ravelry pattern database. It turns out there are a LOT of patterns named Ripples or something similar. It’s a great name, though!

    1. You make an excellent point! A couple of them have one or two items that are named something close. Ripples gets used a LOT, as it turns out. So I liked that one, but am striking it because there are too many patterns with some variant of ripples in the name.

  1. Um, doing a search on dissipation,
    dissipated living.
“a descent into drunkenness and sexual dissipation”
    debauchery · decadence · dissoluteness · dissolution · intemperance · [more]
I don’t think that’s quite what you are going for. LOL! I love Rainflow.
