Help! I am naming impaired*, and would love your assistance in picking a name for my cowl. If you have been reading along, you know the cowl I am talking about. If not, it is this one here…
The second one in a different yarn is blocking, the pattern is mostly done. Now I need a name! Below are the ones I was kind of thinking about, along with several excellent suggestions from an earlier post:
- Dilution
- Dispersion
- Dissipation
- Dissolve
- Mermaid’s Tale
- Rainflow
Ripples**- Soluble
Please let me know which one you like best in the comments! Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

*When I say I am naming impaired, I am not kidding. As a child I named a small pet turtle “King of the Grizzlies”. Apparently I was very insistent about naming him this. My skills in this area have not improved.
** As per highlandheffalump’s excellent suggestion, I checked these names against the Ravelry pattern database. It turns out there are a LOT of patterns named Ripples or something similar. It’s a great name, though!
Quite A Yarn 
Have you checked if these are all unused on Ravelry? Any used you could take off your list to shorten it. Dissolve is probably my preferred from the list. They remind me of dandelion seeds in the wind.

You make an excellent point! A couple of them have one or two items that are named something close. Ripples gets used a LOT, as it turns out. So I liked that one, but am striking it because there are too many patterns with some variant of ripples in the name.

I like rainflow. The pattern reminds me of rain on a car window as you are driving.

I like Dissolve and Rainflow. Maybe combine them to Dissolving Rain?

I like Dilution and Dissolve – the cable thingies “dissolve” or “get diluted” as the cowl progresses. Whatever you call it, it’s beautiful.

I am not a very good namer, so thanks for providing a list. I think Dissolve or Mermaid’s Tale would be a good fit.
