Tuck Stitch Sampler Cowl #2

November 10, 2018 quiteayarnblog2 Comments

In between working on Ixchel, I started another cowl that is a sort of practice sampler from my Tuck Stitches class.  This one is in the Stockinette Tuck Stitch B pattern (I think).  The resulting pattern looks like interlocking bubble strings.  It looks like colorwork, but it really isn’t.  It’s stripes, but with tuck stitches… Continue reading Tuck Stitch Sampler Cowl #2

I Finished a Thing!

November 2, 2018November 3, 2018 quiteayarnblog8 Comments

I finally finished the tuck stitch cowl that I started in September in the Tuck Stitch class with Nancy Marchant.  It turned out OK! The stitch patterns in the top and bottom sections were Step Gable Tuck stitch and then the B version (color dominance variant of the same thing) in the middle. It’s not… Continue reading I Finished a Thing!

Ixchel Update

October 26, 2018 quiteayarnblog6 Comments

My Ixchel sweater is coming along pretty well! I have about 25 rows left for the body, and then ribbing.  Toward the bottom, where I am now, the stars start to thin out, and there are a lot of rows with 12 or more stitches between single gold stitches.  So I decided to go back… Continue reading Ixchel Update

Quick Travel Knits

June 23, 2018June 23, 2018 quiteayarnblog5 Comments

This week was mostly a blur. It consisted of a whirlwind work trip to Seattle, in which I got an awful lot of work done, and not a lot of sleep.  But in between work tasks, I did finish the two kits I took with me (if you ignore the maybe hour of knitting I… Continue reading Quick Travel Knits

3 Way Cowl – an Adventure in Making Things Up

June 2, 2018 quiteayarnblog5 Comments

A few months ago, I attempted to make a cowl out of bulky weight-ish handspun that I had bought at a fiber fest, with no pattern and only the barest notion of what I wanted it to be like.  This did not go well. I did rip the project back, recalculate, and try again –… Continue reading 3 Way Cowl – an Adventure in Making Things Up

Friday FOs!

February 16, 2018February 16, 2018 quiteayarnblog4 Comments

Well, it’s been a week of getting things done!  So far this week I have finished my Valentine’s Day socks, which went pretty well. The yarn is from Gnome Acres, and the color is I Lurve Ewe, one of her Valetine/Galentine colors. I bought the yarn a couple of years ago and just now got… Continue reading Friday FOs!

Hooray for Super Bulky!

January 12, 2018January 12, 2018 quiteayarnblog6 Comments

2018 is off to a pretty productive start! Last Sunday, I sat down to watch a Craftsy class and made this… The pattern is Ribby Slouchy Beanie, and it is free on Knit Collage’s website.  The yarn is Daisy Chain by Knit Collage, which is why the little daisies are on there.  That is not… Continue reading Hooray for Super Bulky!

Crazy Backwards World Day of the Dead Cowl

January 6, 2017January 6, 2017 quiteayarnblogLeave a comment

And here it is – the color reversed version of the Day of the Dead cowl from earlier post fame. And here they are right next to each other for comparison… Using two variegated yarns together puts an interesting spin on colorwork.  If I wanted crisper definition of the figures, they would not have been… Continue reading Crazy Backwards World Day of the Dead Cowl

2017 – How’s it going so far?

January 2, 2017January 2, 2017 quiteayarnblog1 Comment

Well, so far so good.  I finished my first project of the year (though to be fair, I did start it a few days before the end of 2016).  Here it is – my Day of the Dead cowl… I’m pretty happy with it!  The stripy border does have a tendency to flop over, as… Continue reading 2017 – How’s it going so far?
