One of the things I got to do in Wisconsin was visit a yarn shop! I was looking back over my posts, and the last yarn shop I visited was in Las Vegas when we went there in November of 2019. No wonder I got so excited about visiting this shop!
We visited Casting On in Appleton – a very nice little shop with a pretty good stock of knitting, crocheting and spinning supplies. They have classes and knit nights, as well as offering private lessons. There was a class gathering as we went in, and everyone was friendly and chatty. There was a real mix of clientele! You know how most of us crafters get irritated at news people who characterize all knitters as grandmas. Well, this place did have a share of grandma-style persons, but also had a small group of young goth girls as well as some Moms with babies – all shopping and crafting away, friendly as can be.
I did not get any photos in the shop itself, possibly because I was overcome with yarn shopping excitement. However, if you follow the link to the shop’s website above, you will get some nice pictures of the place. I did come away with some finds:

If you are ever in the Appleton area, check it out! Have you gotten out to any new places lately?
It’s so exciting to be shopping a new place in person, isn’t it?

What lovely yarn and isn’t awesome to visit shops! I am fortunate to have two fairly close to me but it has been a few months since I’ve visited them, I think I need to.

That sounds like a fun place to visit! I wish there was something like that here. My mom and I went to a fabric shop a while back that was in an old warehouse. She loves sewing so she found a lot of stuff.

That fabric shop sounds really cool 🙂 It is definitely a fun place to visit – if you are ever in the Green Bay Wisconsin general region I recommend a stop!

It’s been a while since I’ve been into a yarn shop myself, but I am going on vacation Wednesday. There’s no shops directly near where I’m staying, but I’m thinking of stopping a one or more on my way there or back, since it’s a 4 hour drive.

Hope you get to stop at one or two! I had almost forgotten how fun it can be 🙂

I’m very excited to see how that beautiful deep blue with the red part (Mary-Ann) knits up. I wish nearby we had a proper yarn shop, not one just selling acrylic yarns. I was a little overcome with yarn choices when I was at Karelia House on our way home from our trip, they are a Rowan special outlet and they had so many Rowan yarns I ended up not even getting one.

Oh no! Do you have a chance to get back to them again?
A real yarn shop is just wonderful to have nearby. Maybe you need to start one!

I’m sure we will be back down there at some point, but it’s well over 100 miles away so not soon. I don’t have the personality for running a shop.

It would be difficult, that is for sure!
