Bits and Pieces

December 7, 2018 quiteayarnblog8 Comments

Today was a disjointed day in terms of crafting.  First and foremost, I made some material progress on Dolores’ caftan, and am about halfway done with the turban that goes with it.   Other than that, I took the plunge this morning and bought into Kate Davies pattern club that incorporates bullet journaling somehow.  Now that… Continue reading Bits and Pieces

Document, Document, Document

December 6, 2018 quiteayarnblog10 Comments

For some reason, documentation of knitting projects is suddenly a thing.  Or possibly it has always been a thing, and I just didn’t notice. Whichever, how you plan your knitting and document your projects while they are in progress and after they are done is currently a big deal.   Ravelry is, of course, one of… Continue reading Document, Document, Document

Finding My Fade

December 4, 2018 quiteayarnblog9 Comments

Dolores’ caftan is progressing nicely, but still not quite presentable.  Hopefully will be there a bit later this week!   The other thing I started working on last week was my Find Your Fade shawl. It is not a difficult knit at all. There are alternating sections of garter and a pretty simple lace.  The magic… Continue reading Finding My Fade

Caftanations

December 3, 2018 quiteayarnblog2 Comments

I made steady progress this evening in Dolores’ new caftan – no picture, as it currently looks like a sad, misbegotten, orange and gray  mess.  Hopefully tomorrow it will look more like something knit on purpose rather than a horrible accident!   The construction of this thing is kind of interesting.  You start at the back… Continue reading Caftanations

Ixchel is Done!

December 2, 2018 quiteayarnblog20 Comments

I got finished knitting Ixchel earlier this week, then my Mom very kindly wove in my ends (I have an awesome Mom!).  I blocked it yesterday, and this morning it is ready to go!   I could not be happier with it.  There are one or two things I’d do differently if I was to make… Continue reading Ixchel is Done!

So Stripey!

December 1, 2018December 1, 2018 quiteayarnblog6 Comments

I didn’t have a lot of time for knitting today, but did get to make some pretty decent progress on Dolores’ new caftan.  Tomorrow I plan to go back to my Find Your Fade shawl, so hoping to get a lot done on that!   How are your projects going?

All Shook Up

November 30, 2018December 1, 2018 quiteayarnblog11 Comments

In case you missed it, Anchorage (where I live) got hit with a 7.2 earthquake today at 8:29 this morning. We have been also getting aftershocks of varying magnitudes all day long – some of them pretty strong ones.  For the curious, you can check out the Alaska Earthquake observatory website here. Click on the… Continue reading All Shook Up

Startitis

November 29, 2018 quiteayarnblog6 Comments

I actually finished knitting Ixchel yesterday!  I don’t have a picture yet – my Mom kindly volunteered to weave in my ends ( I know! How nice was that of her!), and it still needs to be blocked, but otherwise, it’s done. 🙂  So in addition to starting Dolores’ new outfit, I also got a… Continue reading Startitis

Sensuous Ewe

November 28, 2018November 28, 2018 quiteayarnblog2 Comments

In spite of the fact that I have had two dress kits for her, poor Dolores has been languishing the same outfit since I finished her Rhinebeck dress and accessories in early September.  Since I recently finished some things, I decided it was time to get back to clothing her in the style to which… Continue reading Sensuous Ewe
