I made steady progress this evening in Dolores’ new caftan – no picture, as it currently looks like a sad, misbegotten, orange and gray mess. Hopefully tomorrow it will look more like something knit on purpose rather than a horrible accident!
The construction of this thing is kind of interesting. You start at the back and knit straight, breaking it up only to do an eyelet row for a belt. Then at the top, you bind off the back of the neck and work parts of the fronts, which then join back up into one piece. Then you knit the rest. I’m somewhere in the middle of that, and it is not looking good. It is in a phase, kind of like a gawky teenager who will blossom into a beautiful person. But right now it is just awkward. Soon, though – beauty!
Don’t you love interesting construction for a knitting project! It makes for more fun, assuming it all works out:)
