This past weekend I went to Kansas City for Knitting in the Heartland with a few of my favorite people! You may recognize Alissa of Snakes and Cranes and Bonny of BonnyKnits – also included were non-blogging friends Ivy and Jess! Bonny lives in the area and very kindly picked me up from the airport and showed us around. We stayed at the hotel where the event took place, which was great for quick access to the vendor area as well as classes.
Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (Yarn Harlot) gave the keynote, and she was awesome, as you would expect.
Alissa (of Snakes and Cranes) and I took a class on knitting argyle with Harry Wells. It was a great class! I did know how to do intarsia, but got lots of good tips on bobbin management, and also leaned a great flat seam very handy for use on argyle socks and similar items.
I found some lovely yarn and knitting tools, an interesting book, and a shawl pin I have had my eye on.
We also had a haunted winery adventure (more about that in the next Yarn Ghouls episode), saw a lot of KC and surrounding areas, had some delicious barbecue. Most importantly, spend a lot of time with wonderful friends!
It was such a good time!
