Went to Juneau, Now I’m Back Again

This past week I went to Juneau for work, and was lucky enough to be able to take my Mom along with me.  We had a great time seeing the sights, as she had not been there before.  For anyone who has not been to Juneau, if you have a chance, definitely go!  There is beautiful scenery, and lots to see and do, including a glacier, a brewery you can tour, wildlife cruises, and lots more. Juneau also has a great treat for yarn enthusiasts – Seaside Yarns!  20160503_113315

Seaside Yarns is a lovely shop in downtown Juneau, within easy walking distance from the cruise ship docks.  Melissa, the owner and proprietor, stocks lots of lovely yarns, including her own A Tree Hugger’s Wife Yarn.  She dyes several weights of yarns, from laceweight to bulky, and has a range of rich colors.  The skein below is sockweight in a “Mermaids on the Beach” a color she created for her 2015 knitter’s retreat.  I’m signed up for her retreat this year – can’t wait!

She also has quiviet yarn in stock. In addition to yarns both unique and familiar, you will find a good range of needles and tools, as well as Alaska-made and -themed shawl pins, buttons, and more.   I get to Juneau roughly once a year for work, and Seaside Yarns is one of the places I always look forward to getting back to every visit!
