New yarn shop! I haven’t been to a new yarn shop in well over a year, and suddenly 2 new ones in 3 weeks! This week’s new yarn shop was Conversational Threads in Emmaus PA. I got to stop in there during our visit back to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.

They opened just after we moved to Alaska, so I had not been there before. The shop is in a lovely old building and has a really pleasant, cozy vibe. When I was there, it was manned by two volunteers, who were welcoming and friendly, and gave me a quick tour of the shop. The yarn selection is pretty amazing, and they have a wide array of needles and other tools.

They are definitely on the high end of yarns, with lots of hand dyes and luxury fibers in stock. They also carried stock from some local dyers, which was nice to see. I didn’t go too crazy shopping, but did pick up a few local yarns and a project bag that was made by the shop owner herself! I also got a Laine magazine, which I have been wanting to check out, but I hadn’t seen them in a shop before.

It will probably be a good long time before I get to another new shop, but I’m really glad I got to check this one out!
Cool!

I love how your yarns coordinate so well with your new project bag. Those deep teals are lovely

Beautiful shop. Isn’t Emmaus the home of Rodale Press?

Yes! Rodale was a big influence in the area, at least when I lived there.

That looks like a great yarn shop! I haven’t been able to visit any new shops in a while, either. Hopefully soon.

Sadly nothing that looks close enough to a yarn shop for me to walk there (and we won’t have a car). But who knows?

Very true – who knows! Will there be a book shop for you to visit?

Probably not? But we’ll have to see. At least it will be a change of scenery for me for a little bit, and then I can visit my local shops when I get back. π
