Project

WIP Wednesday

In addition to the Haunted socks, which continue to haunt me, I’ve got two active projects going and one long term one that I work on intermittently when the spirit moves me.

My brother and SIL recently (like 2 weeks ago) moved from Florida to Wisconsin, so I am making them some felted slippers to celebrate their move back to a cold climate. And while I’m doing those, my Mom mentioned that her last pair is pretty worn out too. So that’s 3 pairs. I’m doing my brother’s first as they will be the largest, so once they are out of the way the others will feel super quick and easy. I would like to emphasize that he chose the color himself.

Also, I have picked the Simple Straight skirt back up after its October hiatus. It’s coming along really well!

I made slits for pockets in this one, which I am pretty excited about. Once the skirt itself is done, I am going to pick up stitches from around the slits and knit the pockets in, probably with sport or fingering weight yarn.

The long term project is my Nightmare Before Christmas shawl. I have a couple of patches made, and am going to just keep making patches in different styles with the miniskeins until it starts to need to get put together. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

It all needs to blocked, of course, but I’m happy with what I’ve got so far. This project is going to take a while, but that is OK. I’m enjoying the process 🙂

How are your WIPs going?

  1. What’s your slipper pattern again? Those are going to be such nice gifts. I love that he picked orange. It’s been a rough week, so I have morning knitting that challenges my brain, and evening knitting which is stockinette, basically.

    1. It’s just called Felt Clogs, and is designed by Bev Galeskas. I hope they will like them 🙂 I’m sorry your week isn’t going well – is it election/general stuff, or work? Stockinette is a great way to relax in the evening for sure 🙂

  2. You have some fun WIPs! I have two right now and I am making steady progress on one, and my socks are worked on in fits and starts-I am just not enjoying them as I should. I think it is the yarn.

      1. The one I am struggling with are the socks I wrote about. I ripped one out when I got all the way down to the toe because I couldn’t get my brain to work the decreases. The yarn is nice, but I am not enjoying it on such small needles. The other project is enjoyable but slow. I am using Miss Babs Yowza which is always a pleasure. It is a wrap that has 300+ stitches per row. I am close to half-way done.

    1. I do! Maybe too much 🙂 But the slippers go quickly, so I’m not worried about those. I know, there will definitely be more knitting! It was a little surprising. They have been in Florida for almost 30 years, and suddenly up and moved to Wisconsin.
