Sunshine Blogger Award

Thank you for the nomination to Karen at NothingButKnit! Well, really she said “If you’re reading this, consider yourself nominated.” So I will take that and run 🙂

About Sunshine Blogger Award:
It is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

Rules are simple:
a. Nominate 11 people and notify them via comment.
b. Ask them new 11 questions.
c. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
d. Display the award logo on your blog post.
e. Answer the 11 questions asked

Here are her questions and my answers:

  1. Dog or cat? Cat
  2. What is your least favorite food that other people love? Any kind of shellfish
  3. Where on Earth would you like to go but you know you never will? Why do you want to go there? Why will you not? Egypt – I would love to see the pyramids and other ancient sites. It will likely never happen because of expense.
  4. What is your favorite household chore? Why? Make me love it too because I detest all of them. I don’t know if this counts as a chore, but cooking is my favorite. I like being creative with flavors.
  5. Your house is on fire. All living creatures will get out safely but you can only grab one sentimental item. What do you grab and why? Old photo albums
  6. Would you rather eat a slug or a spider? Blech – neither! But if I had to choose, I guess spider?
  7. Do you prefer houseplants or cut flowers? Houseplants
  8. What is the absolute hardest thing you have ever had to do for another person? I can’t really think of anything.
  9. What was your favorite food as a child? Pie
  10. Be honest, do you exercise as much as you should? No, not at all.
  11. . Have you ever met someone and you felt like you knew them? Did the relationship continue and did the feeling continue? Yes, I did. The relationship continued for a while, and she did continue to feel like someone I knew. We are still cordial, though not as close as initially.

I will follow in Karen’s footsteps and say – if you are reading this, consider yourself nominated! So many of the bloggers I follow are definitely creative and positive with their blogs 🙂 If you would like to accept the nomination, answer the questions in your own blog. Or you can answer in the comments if you prefer!

  1. What is your favorite holiday and why?

  1. 1. Thanksgiving. Good food, time with family but no gift pressure.
    2. Oh Starbucks. They tempt us with their overpriced tasty beverages and then make us feel not worthy. They’re evil but no worse than any other corporation who tells us how to act/think when they’re really just concerned about their bottom line most of all.
    3. I was a math girl and I use it every single day but not calculus. That’s the devils math;)
    4. The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. My favorite book ever. Though A Wrinkle in Time is an extremely close second.
    5. I’m going off the board with Firefly. I was very late to the sci-fi stuff. I blame 2001: A Space Odyssey. It scared the daylights out of me as a kid.
    6. Sweet all the way though I have been eating dark chocolate glazed kettle corn and that has the sweet and salty thing.
    7. I’m going to Disney World and there would be no lines and I’d get to ride The Haunted Mansion over and over.
    8. If I answer based on what I think I’d say relaxing but I know I like to do stuff while on vacation so active.
    9. Yes but I try not to. I’m hard on myself generally so self imposed failure is a mistake.
    10. Travel to Ireland and Scotland. On the way or way back I want a few days in Iceland.
    11. I don’t think I have a favorite. If I’m spending 2+ hours of my time I just want a good story that leaves me feeling like it was worth it.

I’m pleased you enjoyed receiving your award:) Thanks for playing along!

  2. Hmm I guess I was supposed to come up with new questions! Well, Nevermind. If I nominated everyone and we all posted new questions it would be a never ending cycle of quizzes! Which sounds alright, actually. 1. What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas, it used to be Halloween but something has shifted. I love winter and gift giving and treats. Halloween is a close second.
    2. Starbucks – delightful purveyor of caffeinated beverages or minion of Satan? Discuss. Minion of satan dispensing burnt plantation grown beverages that taste like the tears of the slaves found to be working on those plantations. I’m judgy about it. But if I’m desperate for caffeine and there is no other option, I will drink it.
    3. What was your favorite subject in school, and do you use knowledge of that subject in your daily life now? Art and French were my favorite subjects and I try to use both but there’s not a lot of call for them.
    4. Do you have a favorite book? If so, has it been your favorite book for a long time, or do your favorites tend to change over time? I don’t have a favorite book but it used to be Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier
    5. Star Trek, Star Wars, or neither? Both!
    6. Do you prefer sweet or salty snacks? Both!
    7. If you could spend a day doing whatever you want, what would you do? Knitting
    8. What is your preferred type of vacation – active or relaxing? Both!
    9. Do you like to set goals for yourself? I have to set goals for myself or I get nothing done
    10. What is one thing on your bucket list? Shetland
    11. What genre of movie do you like best? Horror

  3. 1. What is your favorite holiday and why? I don’t have a favourite, I find all a bit tricky.
    2. Starbucks – delightful purveyor of caffeinated beverages or minion of Satan? Discuss. I think they are one of the companies that don’t pay tax in the UK, I prefer Costa hot chocolate so don’t use Starbucks, plus I know Costa pays UK tax.
    3. What was your favorite subject in school, and do you use knowledge of that subject in your daily life now? I hated school, if I had my time again I’d have chosen art and craft, design and technology and ignored my parent’s wishes.
    4. Do you have a favorite book? If so, has it been your favorite book for a long time, or do your favorites tend to change over time? Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer, I first read it as a teenager and have read it another 6 or more times.
    5. Star Trek, Star Wars, or neither? Also loved the old TV series of it.
    6. Do you prefer sweet or salty snacks? Definitely sweet.
    7. If you could spend a day doing whatever you want, what would you do? I’d be back snorkelling in Maui watching turtles swim round.
    8. What is your preferred type of vacation – active or relaxing? Active, I’m not very good at just sitting on a sun lounger.
    9. Do you like to set goals for yourself? Yes and then break them and then kick myself, hopeless!
    10. What is one thing on your bucket list? Tour Iceland
    11. What genre of movie do you like best? RomCom
