Now that I’m into the central section, I decided to try the chevron pattern two different ways – one repeat of garter and one of stockinette. Here is how that turned out…

I think in this section the pattern is much clearer in the stockinette section, though the garter part is interesting in its own way. I was halfway thinking about ripping back to the beginning of this section and just redoing the whole thing in stockinette. But I really don’t want to. So what I think I’m going to do from here is one more section of stockinette, and then finish the central part with a garter section just for consistency. And then on to the last parts!
I like your thinking! LOL It will look good no matter the change in texture.

I agree that the stockinette reads more clearly than the garter. I’d just keep going, though. It’s an interesting spot in your shawl!

That contrast yarn is really pretty. I agree about the stockinette but the garter stitch definitely adds an interesting extra effect.

It does! Now I wish I had played around with it just a little bit more. But it is a nifty effect!
