My Bramen cowl is finished! This was a nice quick project and a good learning experience. I learned a new cast on and bind off, and got to do some good tuck stitch practice. And I get a nifty cowl out of it in the bargain 🙂 The cast on is the two-color long-tail cast on, and the bind off is the sewn bind off, apparently also known as the stem stitch or outline stitch bind off.
One of the great things about tuck stitches is that most of the stitch patterns look just as good on both sides. For this pattern I think that is true!
This cowl is the first project in the AC Knitwear’s Boost Your Knitting for 2019. The design is by Nancy Marchant, and is very well written. The written and video tutorials that go along with the pattern were very clear and well done also 🙂 The yarn is Schoppel Wolle gradient DK weight. The colorway is #1878 – In der Wiese (in the meadow). I have to be honest, for most of this project I had color envy. I picked this color out of three choices, and I’ve been second guessing myself this whole week. There is a Ravelry group for AC Knitwear, and I have been following along with everyone else’s cowls. All the other colorways seemed so much prettier! But now that it’s done I do like it! It has a nice springy look, and the gradient works well for this pattern.
Next up is Kate Davies’ Weel Riggit hat! I’ve got a bit of a start on it, and hope it goes pretty quickly as well.
Working on anything fun? What’s next for you?
