DH’s socks are done!
The yarn is Universal Yarns Uni Merino in the Salem colorway. I didn’t use a pattern at all, just my usual toe-up 2-at-a time method. On to the next!

You are a sock-making wonder. Tell me, do you have a favorite sock yarn that holds up well to wear?

Aw – thank you! Not really – I have been trying a lot of different brands, and they all seem to do OK so far. Do you have a favorite brand?

I wish. What I’ve learned is that the more expensive yarns which are advertised as sock yarn hold up better than cheaper yarns. The number of plies matters – four or more is best. Acrylic is not sturdier than wool, but wool does need a nylon backbone. My favorite is Ewtopia Wis Sock.

They have a company yarn shop in Viroqua, WI, but also sell in various WI local shops.

We plan on getting out to Viroqua one of these days to visit the Driftless book shop. And will definitely be checking out their shop!
