So many shiny distracting classes, patterns, books and clubs going on right now!
Because that’s how I roll, I’ve signed up for a number of the shiny distracting things that have appeared this spring. Starting March 1, I will be taking the Colour at Play online course with Felicity (Felix) Ford. This seems to be sort of a companion to the Colour at Work book coming soon from Felix and Kate Davies. Which I also bought. I have seen mention of a new club coming from Kate Davies in the near future. And I will almost certainly also take part in that too, whatever it is.
Starting in April, I am going to be doing the online Homage to the Granny Square crochet class from The Mercerie. This seems to be a little bit about crochet, and a lot about color theory. Are you sensing a theme?
Finally (for now), I decided this is the year I’m going to Bang Out a Sweater. This is something Modern Daily Knitting does every year. They pick some quick knit sweater and you try to knit it in a month. Right now I’m just in a mood to get something DONE, so I’m pretty jazzed to be trying this. The project is the Crowberry sweater (link above will get you there), featured in the last Field Guide. I really like the pattern, though not in those colors. So I picked out my own:

Lettlopi, knitted on US 9 and 10.5 needles – I should be able to bang this out in a month! The lapis is the main color of the sweater, and the yoke and cuffs are going to be some combination of the other colors. I haven’t quite decided what I’m going to do there, but it’s a hem-up sweater so I’ve got time to think it through.
That does mean I’m slowing down on the gansey, but will get back at it as soon as this is done.
Do you fall prey to distractions, or mostly stick to your plans and current WIPs?
I have phases of enjoying the plans I’ve made, and phases of being more impulsive! I think impulse may be approaching – I’ve been lightly browsing patterns and had a little look at some yarn this week. Not specific yarn, just a look around. That’s how it starts 😁
I look forward to seeing you bang this sweater out!

Yup, first the vague browsing and stash examination, and then you’re deep in the distraction!
Me too 🙂 I hope it turns out OK!

Lopi is great for banging out a sweater! My first Bang Out a Sweater was a Stopover in Lapis and a few other colors. I liked it so much I knit a red one, too.
I’m somewhat tempted by the Crowberry in Lopi, but I’m afraid the yoke patterning won’t look good on me. It comes pretty far down the shoulder; I like mine to be closer to the neck. Also, I’m supposed to be knitting DH’s When Harry Met Lucy, but I’m playing with one more assigned pooling design. Oops!

Your Crowberry will be gorgeous! I definitely fall prey to distraction. Right now I’m not knitting much because I want something new. I think I’ll cast on a beanie to get me going again.

I hope so! I like the yarn colors 🙂
Same, I’m in a rut. Hoping this new project will spark me back up again!

Pretty colors. I like the crowberry except it seems short and boxy. Love the yoke detail. I’m anxious to see how your version turns out.

Thanks! I am happy with them 🙂 It does look short and boxy on the model, but I suspect she is wearing one with lots of ease. Mine won’t be that much bigger than my body 🙂

You have lovely distractions. I was considering banging one out myself, but I really don’t want to purchase any new yarn, and the lopi supply in my stash is tapped out.

Do you have any other worsted weight yarn? If so, you too could bang one out!

DISTRACTIONS ALL THE WAY! Though I do try to stick to my plan, at least. I think it helps that my plan is generally super vague these days.

Yay Team Distractions!
🙂 I think I need to start vaguing my plans up too. I try to get so specific, and it just does not work for me.

Specific craft plans have generally not worked well for me in the past. They only last so long before everything crashes and burns. So far vague goals are working much better.

Ah you are going to get your Granny Square on! Warning – it will be addictive!
Beautiful yarn colors – imagine the colorwork sweater you could whip out with those!

Yes, I kind of think it will be pretty addictive! I’m really looking forward to it 🙂
I hope it will be!
