These new socks are sailing along! The label on the yarn said is fingering weight, but I think it’s probably a Sport or DK weight. I had to bring the stitch count down from my usual number, and these are knitting up so fast! Not that I’m complaining – it’s nice to have a pair of socks go quickly. Maybe I should try a pair in Worsted weight?
I like that color! I’ve discovered that some fingering yarns are pretty darn heavy once I start knitting them. It’s like they aren’t squishy enough so they knit heavy.

I like it too 🙂 It is a gradient that goes to a kind of cherry red.
That is true. This may be a heavy fingering weight. There really is a lot of variation within the yarn weights!

These look great! From the picture I’d agree, they look like a sport weight. Heavy fingering at the least.
I’ve knit worsted weight socks before, but they worked better as slippers than as socks, at least for me. None of my shoes were loose enough to fit when I had on socks that thick. 🙂

If I do ever knit worsted weight, it would definitely be for slippers. I don’t think any of my shoes or boots would fit over that thick of a sock either. But they would be cozy for indoors!
