I’ve got two projects going right now – my gansey and a pair of plain socks for myself.

The gansey is moving along pretty well. I finished the bottom section including my initials, which you can kind of see here. Now I’m starting the pattern section, so pretty excited about that piece!

The other project is just plain socks for me. I’m using a souvenir sock set from our trip to Portland Oregon in 2018. So the yarn has been around a little while! It is True sock yarn from Fierce Fibers in the Scorch colorway. The yarn is listed as fingering weight, but really feels more like DK or sport. I have reduced my stitch count a little from the usual based on a try-on or two. So we shall see how they turn out!
What are you working on right now, and how is it going?
I think it is cool to add initials to the hem of your sweater. Is that customary? I am working on a new pair of socks, too. I am also knitting a quick sweater for a newborn.

Working in your initials (or the intended wearer’s initials) is a tradition in ganseys.
Don’t baby sweaters go so quick? And they are fun to make as well 🙂 What kind of socks are you making?

The socks will be two at a time toe up, but plain ol vanilla. They are on size 1 needles, and the thought of any pattern makes my head hurt! 🤣

That’s how I make most of my socks too!

Look at your gansey! And I love that sock colorway. My gansey is coming along. I’m still on the stockinette section but making good progress.

You Thwigs are lookin’ fine. I am knitting adult balaclava and just starting a quilting project. I’m also spending time getting to know my Christmas present (from Bill) – a fancy color printer/scanner combination.

Your new present will be really helpful with many of your artistic endeavors!

These projects both look great! I adore the colors in your sock yarn. I’ve recently started a new pair of socks too, this one the Green Dragon Socks pattern by Sock Witchery. They’re going to be a gift for later this year, but I’m probably going to need to ask the recipient to try them on in advance since I’m using a smaller needle size than normal and I want to make sure they’ll fit. (I usually use a US 1.5 and this is a US 1, so it’s not that big of a difference. But still. Better safe than sorry.)

Definitely true! Always better to err on the side of caution. I just looked up the Green Dragon socks – very pretty! They look like they will be really squishy and cozy!

Also, as a nice bonus, the pattern is both not boring and east to memorize! 🙂
