The new doorway curtains are done! Did my devil-may-care pattern-less method work? Eh. Sort of.
Original lace curtains. Problems – no heat retention, easily see-through at night.

New knitted curtains.
Solved: keep out the cold better, not see-through at night. Sounds good, right?

Problems – not quite wide enough. Substantially too long.
Actually, they were just long enough, but then I decided to wash them and very lightly block them. That was not a good idea. There are bottom bars from the original curtains, and I might loop the new curtains under them and fasten them up so they are partially doubled. Or I might let them alone. If there is a next time for this project, I will make them a couple inches wider and a bit shorter.
So I’m calling it a partial success, and good enough for the time being 🙂
Do you have any project partial successes? Did you just roll with how it they turned out, or did you redo?
I’m usually good with partial successes. I almost never want to make anything more than once. I love that you knit some drapes. I’ve never seen that before!

LOL! I think partial success will do it for me on this one as well 🙂

Wow! They grew a lot! I bagged a window treatment I made this summer. Fabric was perfect but the overall effect on the window was too dark. Replaced with purchased sheers and much happier. Your idea was good.

Sometimes you just have to try a few things!

Oh that’s frustrating they grew one way. What if you wet it again and hung it on a line from the long side, maybe it would stretch a bit wider? Ah well better than the lace for sure.

That’s a good idea! I will try that 🙂 Yes, at least it’s a bit better!

I decided to do a poncho for one of my grandkids. The gauge was wayyyyy off, but I figured it would fit because I was using an adult pattern and this way I wouldn’t have to recalculate. Well, it was cute! But… the neckline was not stretchy and she couldn’t pull it over her head! oops.

Hey they work for the time being and you can see if you want a different solution later 🙂

Very true!

I would consider this overall a win, since it fixed the two things you wanted to change. And maybe the alternate blocking solution would work to fix the width issue?
