A few really fun-looking knit alongs have come up lately, knocking me firmly off of my knitting plan for 2023.
The Shawl KAL from The Woolly Thistle, actually already started a few days ago. However, it runs until June, so there’s plenty of time to join in! The fun think about this KAL is you choose your shawl pattern and your yarn – you can do pretty much anything you like as long as you buy the yarn from them. I am twinning with Sarah of mildlygranola and doing the Forest Path Hap (Ravelry link) using Rauma Garn Finull in color 4130

This color isn’t really me, though I do love it. It’s a rich mossy color, and I totally love moss.
The other new KAL is the Celtic Mist Shawl MKAL (Ravelry link). Vanessa Ewing of Cape May Fiber Co is the designer. Clues start on May 1. You can use any yarn, of course. But she has some special alpaca yarn for sale in her shop from a New Jersey alpaca farm. The story of All-American Alpaca is here, along with the yarn. It is natural colored yarn – mine is from an alpaca named Tomahawk.

I’m pretty excited for both of these KALs! Are you doing any KAL or CALs or similar?
Sounds like fun. I am in the mood for starting another shawl, but am trying to use stash yarn.

Oh, that is cool that they tell you the name of the alpaca that your yarn came from! I love it!
I’m trying to not cast on any new projects of the same type until I have cast off one of the projects currently on the needles, or I’d be very tempted by that shawl MKAL. I’m doing a KAL right now though for the Untitled Goose Geek-A-Long socks, and I’m loving working on that.

Oh how awesome! (But alpacas are just adorable anyway. A family friend has/had? an alpaca farm, and I got to visit on shearing day one year.)
