It’s that time of year – time for Ambah O’Brien’s Halloween KAL! This year I am doing one of her new designs, the Ghost Knitter’s Shawl. It’s one of her spooky designs, having similar skull lace as last year’s Betwixt shawl. Here is the Etsy link for the pattern, and the Ravelry link.
The yarn I’m using is all from stash.

The cream with orange speckles is MadelineTosh Red Fox, the orange tweed is Witch’s Teeth Tweed from Gnarledpaw Yarns, and the minis are scrounged out of a couple mini sets from Northern Bee (formerly A Tree Hugger’s Wife Yarn).
Here’s my start:

I’m going to use the Red Fox and the minis to knit the solid triangle part of the shawl, then the orange to do the skull lace. At least that’s the plan right now. I’m a little iffy about the orange tweed. And now that I’m a little way into it, I’m also questioning the miniskeins. So who knows what will wind up happening. However, I’m on the way!
What do you tend to do when you are questioning yarn choices or other things about a project? Keep going and hope it works out OK, or rip it back and figure out something else?
I stop, drop, and roll… away. If a project isn’t going to plan, I won’t touch it until I have a new plan. It’s not conscious. It’s what I tend to do.

Thank you! Me too – I really needed to get in there and start using it up more than I do 🙂

Just today I pulled into Starbucks parking lot and was next to a car with a full sized skeleton in the back seat! I did a double take. It’s that time!

Ha hahahahaha! That must have been a little shocking for sure 🙂

Ha, both! First I let it nag at me while I keep knitting. Eventually I give up after trying to ignore that voice for way too long, frog it, and figure something else out. Gotta let it make my stomach hurt for a while first! My Camellia Wrap went that way; I knew that one of the colors was wrong for the other two, and tried to ignore it…

I’m a little afraid that’s what I’m doing here. It’s true – you just kind of know when it isn’t working out. I’m going to set it aside for a day or two and see what I think at that point.

I think they all look fantastic together, but only you know what your vision is! I look forward to seeing how you proceed!

I probably wouldn’t have gone with the brighter green, but I see why you did. Let your voice guide you, it rarely leads you wrong.
