As happens a couple times a year, I have completely overwhelmed myself with projects – knitting and otherwise. So to reset, I spent the evening planning for yet another upcoming project. Why did I not just focus on work on one of my current projects? I do not know.
What I do know is I got districted from my current WIPs by Ambah O’Brien’s Halloween KAL and her Betwixt shawl and wanted to come up with some yarn options. After going through my stash I stopped at sixteen options, though there were a few more possibilities. I’m going to try and narrow them down from there, but will undoubtedly be sharing some of the options here for opinions!
How do you reset when you get overwhelmed?
Last night I didn’t do anything. No knitting. Just laid on the couch and watched stuff. I guess that’s how I reset.

That can be good to do sometimes!

Sometimes I have to just step back and take a break for a little bit. Focus on something else. Good luck!

That is a good way to do it!

I stop to organize my workspace. I also go for the fast finish. Whichever UFO is closest to the end gets my attention.

I don’t really have any solutions, but wow 16 options! It’s great you have so much stuff in your stash you can pull from

There’s a lot of the same skeins in different combinations in there – though yes, I do have some stash 🙂

My knitting resets are usually either reading or games… video games, puzzles, card games… you name it.
I’m curious to see what you do with the Halloween KAL! I like Ambah’s patterns, but the projects are often larger than I want to knit.

Those are great ways to reset! Just doing something different for a little while can be really helpful 🙂 I think it is going to be largish, but I love the pattern!

The hardest part is convincing myself I don’t need to feel guilty for not knitting.

I often cast on a project to pound through so I feel accomplished and then I get back to it.

I put the project(s) down for a couple days. I’ve also put up an erasable white board I found at a thrift shop and list my projects in priority. Helps me feel like I have an imaginary handle on them 😉

Those are both great ideas! I dream of having space for a white board 🙂 Putting things aside for a bit is a really good way to reset.
