Out and About: Alaska Zoo

For the first time in a couple of years, we went out to the zoo today! We’ve been pretty jazzed to get out of the house a little more now that restrictions are pretty much lifted in Anchorage, and there are a whole bunch of new baby animals to check out.

There are currently 2 rescued black bear cubs, 7rescued moose calves, 1 rescued porcupette (baby porcupine), and 2 wolverine cubs who are not rescued but are the babies of the zoo’s resident wolverine couple. I was not able to get pictures of all of them – the porcupette was not currently out for public viewing and the wolverines move way too fast for good pictures. But I did get the bears and moose ๐Ÿ™‚

We also got to see all of the normal zoo residents as well

We were glad to see they have been enlarging the enclosures and doing a lot to make them into more natural settings. The animals all have lots of enrichment toys and activities as well. It’s not a really big zoo, but it is a nice one ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you getting out at all lately? If not lately, plans to go anywhere soon?

  1. How fun! It’s been awhile since we’ve been to the zoo. I think it’s time to go back. I want to get out more this summer. I’m so sick of staying home. I don’t even care where to! Lol!

  2. I haven’t been to the zoo in so long; thank you so much for the visit. ๐Ÿ™‚ This makes me want to also go to the Museum of Nature and Science which is located right next to the Denver zoo. I still am not getting out all of that much for fun stuff, but I am finally traveling the world on lots of little trips and outings and it is great to expand my horizons beyond the house.
