Odyssey is done! I got done knitting it on Thursday and got it blocked overnight.

Here is a closer shot of the lace sections. Mom has it and is considering a fashion shoot with it, so I may get some daytime photos of it one of these days.

The pattern is Odyssey Shawl by Joji Locatelli – this is a great pattern – not complicated at all, well written, and very nice results! The yarns are skeins I bought through the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em program.

The dark brown yarn is Leicester Longwool, the medium brown is Jacob, and the cream is Gulf Coast Native. The Leicester Longwool is very silky and drapy and reminded me of alpaca a bit. The Jacob is a rustic, springy yarn. Not rough or scratchy, but definitely some texture. The Gulf Coast is kind of fuzzy and grippy. I know that’s not that descriptive, but that’s the best term I can think of for it. Very happy with how it turned out!
I think it looks lovely and grippy is a great description. Some of our Guild members would say it is very toothy and I imagine it’s the same. Your lace section is similar to the one I’m doing on my wrap so it’s nice to see it opened up on the blocking mats. Very pretty,

Thank you! Yes, toothy would also work for this yarn. The word I kept thinking was sticky, though more like burrs than syrup 🙂 It did open up pretty significantly with blocking.

Beautiful work. I like the bind off in dark brown, it provides unity to the shawl’s three sections.

Thank you! Yes, I liked bringing the brown back in. I was hoping to do a row of the medium brown as well, but there wasn’t much left at all.

What a lovely shawl. Good to know that the pattern works well with different breed specific yarns. Might as well try knitting this my handspun.

Yes, it would likely work very well with handspun!
