Halloween Yarn: It’s a Thing

A little while ago, I wrote about my Halloween yarn countdown sets and showed off the first mini of set #1. I’ve been posting each day’s minis on Instagram, but held off on showing them here until I was a little further into the set and had a reasonable feel for whether I liked the yarn or not.

Mystery yarns, whether they are for Christmas advents or grab bags or whatever, are always a gamble. You truly don’t know what you are going to get.* It might be great, or it might be poorly dyed, or just not to your taste. Although to look at my stash, you would think that I like all the yarn in the world, that’s not true. I do have likes and dislikes, and am a little picky with my yarn. What it comes down to is that I didn’t want to post anything about this yarn set if it turned out I didn’t like it.

However, we are a little short of halfway through the month, and I can tell you – I am very happy with this set! It is nice quality yarn, the colors are nifty, and they all work together so far.

Here they are in the order they came in – I don’t think I would knit them in this order, but it will be fun to rearrange them and play with the sequence when they are all opened! This set is the Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween advent calendar, dyed by MsMonsterCreations on Etsy. You can tell from her logo and stock that she is a little into this Halloween thing. Though she does have some other lovely non-Halloween yarns as well ๐Ÿ™‚

How do you do with mystery yarn? Love it or leave it?

*I understand that’s the point of mystery yarn. I guess what I’m getting at here is I’m not much of a gambler.
