Having gotten two projects done, it was time to start two new ones! This morning I got a bit of a start on the next Dolores-related project – Harry Bollasockyarn! Harry is a recent kit from Webs, for anyone who would like to knit their own ball of yarn stuffed toy. I haven’t gotten too far with him yet, but he is working up pretty quickly, so should be done at some point this week, I think!
The other project is another pair of socks. My mom very kindly got me the Soft Pretzels sock kit from Knitter’s Brewing Company š She also got a kit for herself, and one for my SIL, so Mom and I are going to make hers. So we are sort of having our own little KAL! These socks have a couple of nifty features. First, there is a pretty novel cable pattern that is the basis of the “soft pretzels” name. Second, and most exciting for me, they are toe up socks with gussets and a heel flap, which I have not done before. I have done short row heels and a couple types of afterthought heels, but no gussets, so this will be interesting. I’m not too far into those yet either, but so far they are going pretty well! Just the top of foot is patterned, the bottoms are just plain stockinette. Though after the heel turn the pattern gets a lot more cabled!

I chose Old No. 8 sock yarn in the Carribbean Happy Hour color. They have a lot of good colors – and fun color names – and so far it is nice yarn to knit with š
What are you working on and how is it going?
Oh what a handsome wee thing Harry is. Iām loving his fringe (or bangs I think you call it in US). He looks French with his little beret type hat. I also had a good scroll through the Dolores outfits available, what a fashion icon she is.

Yes, I thought they did a great job with designing him and putting the kit together š I love his fringe too! Dolores is definitely a real fashion icon! I’m not making all of her outfits – but there sure are a lot of them!

I love the start of your socks! I need to learn how to do socks two at a time!

It is a little fiddly right when you start, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Then it’s just a matter of managing your yarn balls and trying not to get them twisted up š

Iām going to have to try this as I hate coming to the end of a sock and having to start all over again

That’s why I do them this way when I can – second sock syndrome š

New projects are always so exciting! It sounds like you have to ration out new projects like I do so that you don’t have too many things going on at once! š

I love Harry, but those socks are the ones that are making my heart sing. You might inspire me to do a sock that requires thought.

They are pretty nice looking socks, and they are going smoothly so far! I am a few pattern repeats from where I am going to have to start the gussets, so that will be interesting. And it will involve math, which will be a little bit of a challenge š But I’m ready!
