The past couple of days have been a blur of random festiveness. And sometimes just randomness. Friday I took off – I had one last vacation day to burn, and it seemed like a good one to take. I think a lot of people in my department are off on Monday, so I thought I’d go-in. Partially because I will likely get a lot of stuff done, and partially because I do get my preferred holiday-adjacent day off pretty often, so I thought I’d let this one for others.
Anyway. Mom and I spent much of Friday baking cookies, which was fun!
We made Toll House, peanut blossoms, sugar cookies, and buried cherries – as seen below. We also made chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips in them.

Saturday was Mom’s birthday, so we went out to Moose’s Tooth for pizza, and then attempted to do a little shopping, but were blocked. For some reason, when we are finished with our holiday shopping, we seem to just assume that other people are too, and are then very surprised when the malls are jammed and the parking lots crazy! So we wound up at home.
I like to tape up the holiday cards we get, and they have been piling up. So I got this far…

Then I ran out of gumption with all of this left to put up

Then for some reason I decided it was the right time to move around a bunch of furniture, including two bookcases. Surprisingly, my husband agreed with me, so that was pretty much the rest of the afternoon. It was a huge pain, but the end result is we like the arrangement of our room much better this way. So that part wasn’t that festive, but it certainly was random!
How are you getting ready for the holidays?
Those cookies look delicious! I baked some cookies too and shared them with friends and family. My favorites were the peanut butter cookies I made with my grandchildren! π

Making them together and sharing them is often the best part of cookies π

I am still knitting gifts! π€£ Your cookies look great. My husband has taken over our cookie baking, and he is much better at it than I am!
Although I was going to be off today, I am going to do a little work this morning. I work from home, so I donβt have to go anywhere. π

Knit like the wind – you will get them done! I have to admit I don’t very often bake cookies if left to my own devices. Mom is a much better baker than I am.
A little work from home sounds better than going in! Have fun and hope you get everything done you needed to do!

We’ve been out of town since Friday, 2 more celebrations to go and we are then headed back home. It’s been pandemonium with 4-6-8 dogs at all the celebrations. LOL!
