Thursday ThWIPs

Finally some progress to report! I’ve really only been working on the 2 sweaters recently. I have a road trip coming up and my shark socks will be perfect for that trip, so those are on the back burner for right now.

She Makes Waves (aka the mermaid sweater) (Ravelry link) is swimming right along!

I decided to add a pattern band to the bottom of the sweater before the ribbing. There’s about an inch to go before I get to that point. I’m really happy with it so far. The fabric is so soft! And I like this pattern too.

Tonnach (Ravelry link) is coming along well too – It’s a little more fiddly than SMW, so progress is a little slower. I do like how it is turning out, though!

How about you? What are you working on and how is it going?

  1. The first is my Penance Shawl, Black yarn (baby camel!) lace weight, seed beads, size 2 needles. Blue ribbon at State Fair.
2nd is my very first pair of socks, Wildflower pattern, size 4 needles. Red Ribbon at State Fair.
Then my Aran Sweater, cotton/silk blend yarn, size 4 needles. Blue Ribbon at State Fair. (That’s my daughter on the left.)
Just finished up my brioche scarf and am working on the cap that goes with it. size 7 needles feel like broomstick handles!
I’m WAY behind on my 12 months 12 projects challenge!

  2. Your Tonnach is looking great! I’ve started mine, but I’m in ribbing hell at the moment, so progress isn’t much to look at yet. I’m really looking forward to when I get to the patterned colorwork part.

And the mermaid sweater is lovely! The pictures make it look like a very soft and comfy fabric, so I’m glad to hear that it’s like that in person, too.

  3. These are both looking great! She Makes Waves is particularly stunning. You have such a talent for colourwork 😊

I’ve hardly made a stitch for weeks. I trust the urge will come back in time – I did start work on a small crochet project over the weekend so perhaps that’ll be the gateway.

  4. I finished the cowl that uses a version of that wavy Tonnach stitch pattern. I love it!

Right now I’m knitting a circle to put in an embroidery hoop; I want to use it as a hanger to hold necklaces and earrings. Of course a plain circle would be boring to knit, so it has assigned pooling motifs on it. Open ring stitch markers to hold the necklaces. We’ll see if it works out like I imagine it!
