Last week was Shark Week, and longtime readers will know what that means. Shark socks! This year, Alissa and I did a KAL of some shark socks that have a little bit of fancy intarsia included. We decided to knit the intarsia parts flat, seam them, then work up from the intarsia piece to make the sock tops and ribbing, and down to make the feet.
I did not realize at first that the swimmers on the front and back of the sock was supposed to be the same person. D’oh! Oh well – I’m happy with it anyway, despite feeling a little dumb.
I did put all the other projects aside last week to focus on sharks and shark sock knitting, so this week I am back to my two sweaters as well as making a little more progress on these 🙂

They are fun! Yes, I decided I was not up for that much of a challenge right now. Seaming will do just fine for that part of the legs, then it’s just regular sock knitting!

You know, I never thought before about where sock seams would work vs. where they would not. And I think seaming the foot part would make for a less comfortable sock. You’re right about the leg, though! That part will be fine to have a seam in.

I’ve only really thought about it before based on which holes can be mended and which can’t. (When you have cats who like attacking clean laundry, sometimes you end up with holes in socks that aren’t where normal wear & tear would put them. Whenever I get another cat, I’m hoping this isn’t one of their vices.)

They certainly do! 🙂 I would love to get a new cat friend, but Mr. Wyrm and I don’t think it’s fair to get one while we’re still doing a lot of traveling. So we’re planning to do some more of the big bucket list vacations over the next handful of years, and then consider getting a cat.

We’d love to go to Japan, though I don’t know what our time-frame is like on planning that trip. And I’ve never been to the UK, so at some point I want to head over there, too.
