Last weekend, DH and I along with my brother and SIL drove to Viroqua Wi to check out Driftless Books and Music. They bill themselves as possibly Wisconsin’s largest used bookstore, and they may well be right.

Situated in an old warehouse, Driftless Books and Music is stuffed full of books, magazines, records, CDs, tapes, art, prints, and much more. The walls are covered with concert posters, prints, art from local artists, and random flyers. The shelves are set up almost like a maze so there is an incredible amount of shelf space. The stock is mostly old, but there were a few stacks of new books by local authors here and there. If you like used books stores, you will love this place. We all found one treasure or another to bring home!
There is also a yarn shop in town – Ewetopia – which is mainly the storefront for a local fiber mill of the same name. Being me, I needed to check it out! They do carry other yarn lines, as well as lots of notions and books, so lots of choices. I was more interested in their yarn, but it was nice to see the full variety of their stock. The knitters and crocheters of Viroqua are very lucky in their LYS 🙂

I came away with a few skeins of different weights of their yarn to try out. I got a skein of their Wisco sock, 1 full skein and 3 miniskeins of BFL BFF, and a skein of silk and mohair. I’ve been looking at their yarn online and it looked promising, but it’s always better to see (and touch!) yarn in person.

Then we finished out our visit to Viroqua with late lunch at an interesting Mexican restaurant – Pacifico. It has delicious food that was fairly different from the usual Tex Mex. It was more of coastal Mexican, and we all really enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures inside any of the 3 places – too excited with all the stuff there was to look at 🙂
Beautiful colors and I’m curious what coastal Mexican is.

A lot of seafood and kind of different seasonings. I’m not sure that is the formal term for it at all.
