A Challenging Month

For some reason, May is a month with a lot of fiber arts related challenges going on. Just for fun, I will see how many of them I can participate in without making any serious effort.

Me-Made-May has been around for a while, and is just a challenge to wear and share images of yourself wearing your homemade/handmade garments. I kind of do this one without really thinking about it, so that is pretty easy. Ideally this should encourage you to put thought into what you are stitching and making wise choices with your time and money. Will I do that part? Maybe.

My LYS sent out an email invitation to participate in Stitch Every Day in May, which I see a lot of other yarn and sewing stores seem to be doing as well. This is another easy one – do some type of stitching (knitting, sewing, other handicrafts) every day this month. Done! It is the very rare day indeed that I don’t do some type of stitching. Maybe one or two days a year. So I think this one will be pretty easy as well.

And finally, Halfway to Haunts. This is just that we are 6 months away from Halloween. There are a lot of things around this – Instagram post challenges, journaling challenges, and so on. But there are also a fiber-arts related options. I’ve seen several different ones, so I feel kind of free to just make up my own. Here’s my Halfway to Haunts challenge – It’s time to start planning the Halloween knitting and possibly get started on it. Have a coherent plan for your Halloween knits (or sewing or crochet or whatever you want) by the end of May. Bonus points if you also have the materials gathered and ready to go. Maybe even in a cute project bag!

So far it looks like check, check, and check. What will it look like at the end of the month? We shall see.

Do you participate in challenges at all – crafty or not? If so, what are your favorites?
