It’s been a while since my last baking experiment! I was planning on lemon meringue pie, but had some ingredient issues. So instead, coffee cake!
I used this recipe from Preppy Kitchen, except I did not do the glaze. By and large, I’m not a glaze fan. It turned out pretty well! The cake is nice and moist, and there is plenty of cinnamon flavor in the center layer and the streusel topping. If you don’t like a lot of crumb topping, you could definitely cut down that part of the recipe. I do like lots of crumb though, so this is a winner! Fair warning though – the website has a lot of ads and pop-ups.
Next week, lemon meringue!
Ooh that is just picture perfect! Well done!

Looks delicious. Coffee cake is one of my favs. Also, the worst thing about the recipe sites are the popups that continually move the page up and down. It’s hard to read the recipe!

It is! It’s good stuff 🙂 I do dislike that about the recipe sites. I just get in, print the recipe, and get out!

I love coffee cake and am rarely served it. It’s nice to see your version.

It is good stuff! I don’t see it around at coffee shops and bake shops as much as it was.

For sure! Thanks! I got it from a cool Etsy shop called KeepTheFaye. She is an artist who does a lot of cool melamine plates and kitchen wares.

Now I am craving coffee cake – yum! Wow that is a lot of crumb topping!

It is a LOT. If I make this again at some point, I would reduce the crumb by a little bit. Its good, but a lot!

Coffee cake, yum! I always love making coffee cake. (Though since it’s just me and Mr. Wyrm eating it, I always end up sick of coffee cake by the time we finish the pan.)

That’s the thing about baking for sure! It’s mostly me and Mr. Quiteayarn as well, and most recipes make a lot. With my Mom here it’s a little more reasonable to bake. And when my brother and SIL are visiting there are a lot of people to get rid of it for me 🙂

Having family around helps a lot! I’ve gotten really good at freezing half of it (at least with most recipes) so that I can enjoy a more reasonable amount without getting sick of it.

Freezing is a great idea! I hadn’t thought about that.

It’s the only way I can properly enjoy a full dozen muffins. Otherwise they get stale before we finish them.

True – it’s hard for 2 people to get through a dozen muffins without them going stale otherwise.

Yeah, especially when Mr. Wyrm doesn’t always eat breakfast at home before going to work. 😉
