And just like that, the Reindeer Moss mittens are done!

They turned out a little long, so I threw them in the dryer for a few minutes after I soaked them for blocking, and that did the trick. This pair is more my Mom’s colors than mine. But I think there is enough left of the Plotulopi to make a white pair with the design in green that I will keep for me. But that is a project for another day. Now I’m off to start some socks!
The pattern is Reindeer Moss mittens by Helene Magnusson, from the MDK Field Guide Moss. The yarn is Plotulopi in white and clover green (I think). This was my first time knitting with this yarn, and I really enjoyed it. As I noted in my other post on these mittens, it’s kind of fragile, so you want to be gentle with it. However, even if you do break the yarn, it’s pretty easy to get back together again. It does make a light, warm fabric for sure.
They look great.

Nice! I was amazed at how much yarn was in one plate of the Plotulopi.

These look really cute! The yarn reminds me of the pencil roving that was one of my very first spinning projects many years ago. (I chose it because pencil roving is essentially unspun yarn already, and it was supposed to be easier because it took out the drafting step normally needed in spinning. I just ended up braking the roving a lot before I got used to it.)

That does make sense for spinning for sure! Though I could see where it would break a lot too. Maybe if I have some left I could try to get back to spindle spinning again. I picked that up for a while and have not touched it in a long time!

I think the biggest thing would be to go slow and gentle with it at least until you got the hang of it. But then, that’s a good idea with spinning period. 🙂
