I started a new project this week – Reindeer Moss mittens from the new Field Guide from Modern Daily Knitting. Helene Magnusson, who I love, is the designer for this field guide, so I could not resist. I ordered the field guide and kits for these mittens and also the Reindeer Moss tam. I have never used Plotulopi yarn, so that has been interesting. If you have likewise never used Plotulopi, it is unspun roving. It’s kind of delicate, so you don’t want to yank on it, or even speak to it harshly. The good thing is that even though it’s pretty easy to tear, it’s equally easy to stick back together. So far it’s a pretty fun knit! You hold two strands of the roving together to knit with, so it’s pretty thick yarn on biggish needles. It’s going quickly!

My gansey is coming along as well. It’s almost time to separate the back and front! I’m happy with how well the stitch patterns are showing up!

And also my Alexandra’s Airplane Scarf (striped version) has been getting some love lately. DH and I took a quick road trip to Madison the other week, and I brought this along because it was really the only thing I had going that is car knitting. I’m probably starting another pair of sock soon, so at that point it will go back into hibernation again. But it’s nice to be making a little progress on it in the meantime!
Donβt be such a baby, Plotulopi! Your gansey is looking really good! I look forward to seeing your mitts. I finished one sock and I am ready to start the second.

At the bottom of your Gansey, you have a texture pattern that I cannot figure out. Is it a signature? It doesn’t go completely across both front and back.

It’s my initials – MJRD. They don’t show up really well in some lights π

These all look great! I’m really curious to see what the scarf looks like when it’s finished. It’s knit with ribbon yarn, right? I enjoy the look of it, but haven’t worked with it yet.

Thank you! I’m interested to see how the scarf turns out as well π It is very narrow cotton ribbon. I like it, but it does need to be untwisted on a pretty regular basis. So there’s that. But it does have an interesting look!

Oh, interesting! I hadn’t considered the untwisting aspect of ribbon yarn.

I don’t know if you have to do it, strictly speaking. But it looks nicer when it’s flatter, I think,

That makes sense! I generally like undoing the major twists in regular yarn too (it seems to happen most when I’m doing colorwork) so I would probably do that for ribbon yarn too.
