Thursday ThWIPs

My Eriskay gansey continues to progress! It probably doesn’t look like much has happened, but it has. Right now the underarm gussets are about halfway done. In about 15 rows I will split the sweater body into front and back and start working them separately. At that point I suspect it will feel like I am flying 🙂

What are you working on, and how is it going?

  1. I’m working on a Fair Isle sweater for my grandson.
The little bugger grew out of the sweater I had knit him in June. In fact, he outgrew it in the month it took me to knit it! He went from a Boy’s size Large to a MEN’S size Large in 30 days!!!! Argh. So his little sister is wearing his sweater.

When I asked him what color he wanted, he replied with black with red.

It’s knit on size 5 needles and DK yarn. I hate knitting with black yarn. I can’t tell if I’ve made a mistake by just looking. I knit for a few inches then feel for mistakes, inspecting it for purls on knit stitches and counting the stitches I have on my needles. The yarn splits and sometimes I don’t see it, so I have to hold it up to the light to see the “too tiny” stitches, or two stitches knit into split yarn of the same stitch.

  2. Hi there, I have been reading your blog for a while and enjoying it. I like the little updates. It’s nice and friendly. I am about to start on a second sock. I think maybe I have the opposite of second sock syndrome. I figure I’ve made all my mistakes on the first one, and now the second will be a breeze.
    All the best.
