Well, all the birds and a lot of beasties have found the feeders and watering bowl! We have pretty heavy traffic now a lot of the time, which I like to see. Lots of birds, lots of squirrels, and I suspect some deer are coming by in the evenings for some of the corn I have been putting out as well.

Every morning we check to see what tracks are new – there are some every day, including some that we thought looked like an owl might have pounced on something. We have heard an owl in the evenings – not sure what kind, but it has a deep, chesty hoot. It sounds like a big one, though that doesn’t always mean anything.
Anyway, I’m glad the feeders are being used. It’s really a lift to check out there and see birds and squirrels out there visiting!
Come summer, you may regret encouraging the deer.

I think they are in the neighborhood anyway. Our neighbors were telling us about how they’ve had a few bushes eaten down to practically stubble over the years. But yes, you are probably right!

My feeders have been very active. Since fencing in the yard for Carver, we have eliminated the deer. Boy, were they destructive!

So nice to have a lot of birds visiting 🙂
I know they can be, but they are so pretty!

We have a young family in our neighborhood. They graze in the neighbors yard just outside my bedroom window and in direct line with ‘Carver’s Corner’! He goes nuts, barking, growling and crying. They couldn’t care less!

Aw! Poor Carver! Maybe someday he will get used to them.

I don’t get as much critter traffic as I did at my last house with the pond and I miss them.

I bet! You had so many critters visiting. Any thoughts about a new pond?

No. Too old and with a walk out basement, we wouldn’t be able to see it from the living area.

Fair enough.

Do you have a bird book and binoculars at the ready to watch the birds? That’s when I knew we were old.

I have been seriously thinking about it! Not quite there yet.

That’s so fun! I love hearing owl calls, something about it is soothing to me. (Perhaps because it reminds me of my grandparents’ place from when I was very young.)

Me too. The house I grew up in was in a woods, and we heard them a lot as well. It is a lovely sound.

I haven’t noticed any owl sounds where I live now (too much city, I suspect) but I do get treated to the cooing of morning doves in the morning. I love that, too.
