2023 was a pretty wild year for me. Moved house twice, once across the country, the second time across a county. Switched companies while staying at basically the same job. Sold a house and bought a house. Did a lot of work fixing up a house. Started exploring a brand new state.
So with all of that, how did the knitting go? Not well at all. I did not get much done. However, see above. So I’m giving myself a bit of a break. Here’s what I did get done!
1 pair of socks, 1 cowl, 1 sweater (and a half, but it’s not done), and 1 pair of fingerless mitts.

However – 8 shawls!

Gosh, that’s a lot of shawls!
This year my vague plan is to make as many sweaters as I can. I have to clear out some stash, and think that probably sweater knitting is going to be the best way to get that done. I’ve got one already started and plans for a few more. And also probably will do some socks – DH could stand a few more pairs, and so could I.
How about you? Do you have knitting (or other crafting) plans for this year, or are you going to go with the flow?
Also look at all the detail and work in those completed projects! I think you got loads done.
Not setting specific goals but have started the year with a very clear view of how big my stash is, so just like you I’ll be working to reduce that 😊

Sounds like you had quite the adventure last year. Beautiful finishes and I love the ribbon you used on your sweater band.

It was quite a year for sure. Things should be quieter going forward 🙂 Thank you! I loved that ribbon too. It’s fun looking around for fun buttons or ribbons 🙂

You had a busy year! Hope you love your new state! The good thing about knitting is that you can put it down and pick it up and nothing spoils!

I did! You know what that’s like – you did it yourself not so long ago 🙂 Very true – knitting waits for you!

I think your output is just fine. The wide variety of shawl shapes and colors is impressive. For me, I will take thing one month at a time. For the first time in my knitting/crafting career, I have decided to set monthly targets. In the first week of January, I am on track to complete 1st month’s goals.

A month at a time is a good way to plan 🙂

In spite of the upheaval, you really managed a good number of projects. I love the halloween ribbon on your sweater’s button band.

That’s a lot of shawls, and they look great! I love shawls and cowls; they always fit.
Not sure what I’m knitting this year. Whatever catches my fancy, I guess!

It is a lot more shawls than I intended to make – but beautiful patterns just kept turning up 🙂 It was definitely a busy year!

This year I’m going to decrease my stash, either though knitting or giving away. It has reached the point where it is hard to keep track of everything. I’m going to try to knit things I enjoy and avoid arbitrary knitting goals. I’m also hoping to keep up a spinning habit in the cold months. I use my happy light when I spin, so it is more of a winter thing for me.
Apparently I needed to respond to your post with a short essay.

Bring on your essay! You have some good plans for your crafting time 🙂 Great idea to combine spinning and happy light use!

Oh wow, there is so much color and variety in all your shawls! They look so good! (Everything else does too, but the shawls really shine.)
I’m planning to knit a bunch of gift socks this year. Plus a knit or crochet bunch of amigurumi toys. Other than that I don’t think I really have anything definite planned. Maybe knit myself another sweater… I’ve been wanting to knit a sweater with a colorwork yoke for ages. This might be the year.

Thanks! Hopefully it will all work out (though random unplanned knitting is fun too).

Very true! I think a good mix of both is probably the best. I always try to have a firm plan, but am always waylaid by passing shiny things 🙂

I like having a plan, but I am way too susceptible to passing shiny things. 😉
