My Halloween Cats sweater is done! The pattern is Fall Favorites by Meghan Reagan (Ravelry link). This isn’t the first time I have knit this sweater – last year I did the pumpkin version. Like last time, I KALed with Alissa of Snakes & Cranes and Sarah of mildlygranola.
The yarn I used is Cascade 220 Sport (non-superwash). The main color is Violet Tulip, the cats are Black, the dark purple dots are Mulberry, and the cat’s eyes are Primavera. The orange is Jamieson & Smith color 90, and the green in the pattern bands is J&S FC11.

The pattern is a pullover, but I converted it to a cardigan by steeking it. For anyone who doesn’t know steeking, I added extra stitches in the middle front, then felted them and did some reinforcing stitches up each side, and cut up the middle. The cute purple cat ribbon is to cover the cut edges. The buttons are from an Etsy shop I have used before, because I am all about the sparkle! They are Glamour Ghoul buttons from The Magpie’s Eye, the same place I got last year’s buttons.

The modifications I added to the pattern are making it a cardigan, adding the pattern band to the waist, and turning half of the cats around on the yolk.

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! It looks absolutely fantastic, extremely well done and congratulations.

This is a brilliant piece of knitting, and quite attractive. I liked hearing the details of how you created your steeks. The felting process was something new to me. Did you use a felting needle? Your modifications added wonderful details to the sweater.

Thank you! Yes, I bought a felting set that included a wide brush to stab into, and a tool that has several needles together in a housing to make it go somewhat quicker. It’s just to make it extra secure 🙂

Fabulous FO! Congratulations on a fine finish. Question on your steek: Felted AND reinforced?

Thank you! Yes, I did not want to take any chances 🙂 It probably wasn’t necessary, but it was interesting to do.

Wow that it amazing and I remember when you had to redo the yarn color to make it more pronounced. Congrats on the lovely finish!
