This weekend I noticed a pretty big problem with one of my current WIPS

Tension is good, pattern is cute. The problem is contrast.

It’s missing! You can see the cats OK, and the little snippets of dark purple. But the green and orange just disappear into the background. Even as I was knitting it the pattern didn’t really pop for those parts. So I got online and ordered a much lighter orange and green. I will finish the pattern band with the cats, and then wait for the new yarns to show up. I’m not going to rip, I’ll just duplicate stitch over those pieces.
My other active project, Back to the Fuchsia, is going pretty well!

I have one more smaller section of houndstooth, then a last little stripe of cyan and binding off. So this may be done within the next week or two!
What are you working on right now, and how is it going?
Ah – the black and white photo helps see contrast issues. It’s still lovely and if you had just left it how it as it would still look great. Oh and it looks like it would be a great pattern done in just black and grays too per the contrast photo 🙂

Yup! I would have saved myself some trouble if I had just done a B&W photo of my yarn together before I started! Oh well – live and learn 🙂

The cats are super cute! But yes, I can see where the lack of contrast for the orange and green would be a problem. I hope the new colors arrive soon so they don’t slow you down on that one!
I’m still chugging along on the joins for my Geek-A-Long blanket. (With sock knitting in between for variety.) I’m down to just one left, though! And then I get to start the edging… which will also be a big undertaking but at least won’t involve any more kitchner stitch.

Thanks! They should get here soon, I hope 🙂 I ordered from Webs, and they are usually pretty quick. I can see why you wouldn’t want to do any more Kitchener for a while!

Thank you! I hope so too 🙂 That’s part of the downside of ordering yarn online – but of course the upside is pretty much everything is available all the time.

Yes, it’s super easy to find what you want online. And then to find twice that amount before you actually check out… 😉

It’s so cool, are you going to duplicate stitch the cats eyes in a colour or different colours or leave as is? They certainly pop and look great.

Aw – thank you! I’m thinking about using the light green when it gets here. But we will see!

I can completely relate. I had the same issues when starting my Soldotna Crop: https://pdxknitterati.com/2019/07/29/on-the-needles-soldotna-crop/
Currently working on two design projects, one of which had a tonal contrast issue with the yarn when I knit the first prototype. The current one is much contrastier, which meant I had to change some things about the design, but it will be fabulous.
Other design project is going to need more yarn! So I’m ordering more, or I’ll change the shape of the design. Haven’t really decided yet…

I’m pretty sure this is going to be fabulous, since the first one is blocked and I love it. This one is just fine tuning. I’ve pre-written a blog post showing the who
