Fans of slip stitch or mosaic knitting may want to check out a brand new book on this topic, Mosaic Knitting Workshop by Ashleigh Wempe.
The book starts with good discussions and illustrations of knitting in general and using slip stitches in particular. The projects themselves start very simple and progress to more complex patterns. There’s a nice range of project types as well. There are some household items (coasters, mug cozies, pillows, afghans) and a few accessories (shawls, cowls).

The coolest project in the book is the one on the cover, the Saguaro Sunset afghan. It’s a really interesting use of this technique. Most mosaic knits I’ve seen have featured geometric, blocky patterns, so this one is really intriguing. On of the things I really like about this book is the author shows you some alternate colorways for a lot of the projects. For anyone starting out knitting, this can be really valuable.

Best of all, toward the end, the author lays out the rules for designing your own mosaic knit designs, which I think will be really helpful for anyone who is making a study of this technique and wants to take it further with their own designs.
I really like this book, and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in slip stich or mosaic knitting and wants to know more about this technique.
How about you? Read any good books lately, craft or otherwise?
Wow, this sounds like a book I might like in my library. Thank you for sharing it.

Ooh that looks cool! Those patterns look great. Next update on your shawl could we get a view of the back of the houndstooth section. I’m always interested what the back of fancy patterns look like with mosaic knitting.
