You may recall my Solstice shawl of earlier post fame. Well, here’s what it looks like now…

It was about halfway done by the end of last week, and I just wasn’t happy with it. I like the pattern. I like the yarn. But it just wasn’t coming together. But that is OK. Sometimes you have to mess around with a project a bit to make it the best it can be. So back to the drawing board!
Probably not right away though.
How are your projects going?
I’m wondering if you and I maybe aren’t spring/summer people.

You make a great point! That is very likely it.

Wow! Sadly I just put projects aside that aren’t coming together and never go back. You are good!

I do that sometimes too. I’m trying to reduce the pile of WIPs hanging around 🙂

I just cast on for a new cowl design, and I’m about to frog it and start over because…well, because I already don’t like it! It’s planning-heavy at the beginning, and then it should be fine, but it starts with the ending edging and goes decreasing up to the top. Because the motif needs to be upright, not upside down! It would be so much easier from the other end…blergh

Better to realize that you aren’t happy now, rather than once you’re in process of binding off! 😉 Trips to the frog pond can be frustrating or freeing. I hope this was the latter.

Very true! It was freeing. There were just too many things I didn’t like about it.

I’m a bit sad that your shawl is no more. But now that I can look at the yarn colors in a pile, I would say that there seems to be insufficient value contrast. Maybe that’s what didn’t look right to you.

That could definitely be it. I will make it again, once i figure out what i need to change

Hmmm…all those balls of yarn will be difficult to wrap around yourself as a shawl – ha! But seriously – sorry you had to “unknit” it but you are right sometimes you have to experiment and if it doesn’t work move on!
