With my last big project for the year finished, I’m starting to get into some of the smaller things I meant to do this year. Today I started my Flock of Four cowl kit. I had a little bit of a hiccup at the start – the directions on the website say to cast on 40 stitches, but that didn’t really work with the sequences that make up the pattern. So after a little dithering around, I decided to cast on the 42 that I thought was correct and started. So far it is working out the way it should be, so I’m just going to go with it.

I started with the Montadale yarn. It is a toothy yarn – I wouldn’t call it rough, but it’s not super soft either. It is a nice firm yarn, so it is showing off the stitches really well. I’m very happy with how it’s going so far 🙂
How was your weekend?
What a fun knit, I suppose the stitch pattern changes for all the yarns?

There is a stitch pattern block and then stockinette or reverse stockinette for specific # of rows for each block. The directions say use a skein until you run out, then switch to the next one. So the yarns will be changing throughout. If you were doing exactly what they say, you might wind up switching a yarn in the middle of a stitch pattern, which would be interesting. Not sure if I will do that or if I will end yarns at the end of sections when it looks like I will run out.

I had a really nice weekend. We had Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday. It was really nice being able to shop for groceries without all the chaos. We watched some good football, too.

That does sound like a great weekend! My in-laws used to do that. They have 5 kids, all married and mostly with their own kids. So my in-laws decided to do their Thanksgiving the weekend before so people didn’t have to try to juggle two big family get-togethers. Which I always thought was really thoughtful of them 🙂

Weekends go by too fast! I spend a lot of time online looking at fabric and patterns.
