For anyone wondering about our famous midnight sun

This was indeed taken at midnight (2 minutes ago). It’s pretty bright out! And now we start losing daylight again. But we will still have pretty long days for the next couple months, at least.
Also, belated Happy Juneteenth, and Happy Father’s Day!
Gosh, I hope you’ve got good blackout curtains!

We are just a bit north of Sitkaβs latitude line where I live. So when I went to bed at 11.30pm it was light enough to have read a book outside…or pick snails off my lupins which is the more normal routine at night.

We are a little north of that – so you are getting roughly the same late night sunlight

I fear if I had that much light I would develop an addiction to No Doze so I could enjoy it all. I really want to visit Alaska in the summer.

You should! It is beautiful in the summer π In normal years there is a huge party/festival downtown for solstice, and it does go through the night. We did it one year, but it’s more for harder partiers than we are π

Whoa! And here I was remarking how light it still was at 10:30, not nearly as bright as your midnight!

Lighter evenings for us all, at least for a little while longer π
