Our flowers and veggies are in full swing here, thanks to a good mix of sun and rain! We have added more flowers around the yard, and the previous owner did have some perennials planted at various places as well. And the veggie garden is doing great as well. We’ve been getting a lot of… Continue reading Agriculture Report
So this one was not a success. Not a huge failure – it tastes OK – but not great in a lot of ways. I was looking at plum tart recipes, because I happen to have some plums. And a lot of them seemed just too elaborate. And then – a really simple one. Thaw… Continue reading Baking Experiment: Plum Tart Take 1
DH and I went on a little trip to the nearby town of Sheboygan yesterday – more about the visit in general in a few days. While we were there, we went to the local yarn shop, The Last Sheepicorn! This is a newish shop, but is in a lovely space and has pretty nice… Continue reading The Last Sheepicorn – Yarn Shop Visit!
I cast this gansey on January 3 and finished knitting it July 2, so roughly 6 months on this one sweater – but I feel like it was worthwhile. The pattern is Susan’s Eriskay gansey by Beth Brown-Reinsel (ravelry link). I made this as part of a gansey-related KAL with Alissa of Snakes & Cranes,… Continue reading FO Friday – Gansey is Done!
Yes, yet another bundt cake! I’m not going to apologize though, I think I’m getting OK at this type of cake. I plan on branching out next month into a different style, like angel food or a chiffon cake or something that works a little differently. However, I could not pass up this recipe. The… Continue reading Baking Experiment: White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pound Cake
Finally some decent progress to report! My gansey is really coming along. I’m on the second sleeve. I’d kind of like to finish it by the end of the month, though I don’t know if that’s possible. I’m focusing on it this weekend, so we shall see. My Shark Tooth Tee (Ravelry link) is also… Continue reading Friday FWIPs
Our recent alternating rainy and sunny days have had a great effect on the garden! Our vegetables are all doing great so far, and we recently added some more flowers to the yard. We’ve got banana, bell, and jalapeno peppers all growing away, and a huge amount of tomatoes getting ready to turn red! Also,… Continue reading Agriculture Report
For some reason, this has turned into my year of read-alongs as well as knit alongs. I started out in January with the Read Christie 2024 challenge. This challenge is pretty much what you would expect from the name – read Agatha Christie books throughout the year. This challenge has been going in one form… Continue reading Year of Mystery
The ant invasion of earlier post fame continues, though somewhat slowed down. I am using a combination of methods, including sugar+borax, vinegar, and STEM spray. The exterminator agreed that if it continues to the end of the week they will come back out and do the upstairs. They claim the stuff they used takes a… Continue reading Wednesday WIPs
