Well, the Key Lime pie worked out pretty well! I used the recipe from United States of Pie by Adrienne Kane, and it was right on the money. Pretty much the only thing I would do differently in making this pie again is crush the graham crackers a bit finer. Honestly, I got bored at a certain point and though “good enough”. And it was fine but would have been better a bit more consistently crushed. I did use packaged key lime juice ( Nellie and Joe’s brand) as I wasn’t able to find fresh key limes.

It was very tasty, and turned out just as I had hoped. I am encouraged!
Next experiment will be a cake – probably in a few weeks. What kind? I don’t know yet. What is your favorite pie to make? And side question, what’s your favorite pie to eat?
I’m not a pie maker usually, but have a friend who loves pecan pie so make mini ones at Thanksgiving (he’s American). I use a pate sucree for the crust, and this year I found a great filling. Ended up with far too much of course, even after making 24 mini pies!

I didn’t know that dark maple syrup was a thing, but I got some in the supermarket no problem.

That looks delicious! My favorite pie to eat is coconut cream. I’ve never made it, though. My favorite pie to make is gooseberry, or any fruit pie.

I’ve never made coconut cream either – maybe I will try it in your honor 🙂 I’ve also never had gooseberry pie! Will have to try that as well.

I made a key lime pie once and decided I don’t like it. Not sure why because I love custard stuff. Cherry pie is my favorite but there has to be a LOT of cherries (not a juice pie) and I don’t like it when the crust gets soggy. As for cakes, chocolate is always my “go to” but you can put a smashed banana or two in a cake mix for a pretty good banana cake.

I agree with you about the cherry pie – fruit, not fruit flavored goop is the key!

Hmmm, I thought I posted a reply, but I don’t see it. Key lime!
Maybe the link I put in sent me to the spam filter? It’s a recipe for my favorite easy key lime pie. I won’t link in this comment, and see what happens.
I did mention that you can buy graham cracker *crumbs* and skip the pulverizing!

I’ll check the spam filter – thanks! Interesting and good to know – thank you! I liked my crust better than pre-made ones I’ve bought in the past, but maybe a little premade is good enough 🙂

That looks so delish! I am glad you didn’t add green food coloring to your pie!

It is very good – nice and tangy. No – I think it looks limey enough 🙂

Cherry pie is always awesome! Door county near us is famous for their cherries – I will have to try them out later this year!

I would always have cherry pie for my birthday, and the day after my birthday, and the day after that… I may have eaten it for breakfast.

That sounds like a great birthday treat! And also for the next couple of days!

Mmm that looks tasty! Key lime is my favourite pie, but lemon meringue is a very close second

That would be another good one to try! I haven’t made meringue yet.

Speaking from experience, do not try it by hand!
