Do you think regular cable knitting is not enough of a challenge? Then I would suggest you check out Adventure Cables by Meghan Jones.
Adventure Cables starts out kind of slow with just cables with texture. Then it goes into cables with lace involved. Then cables with other cables mixed into them or on top of them. Then it gets crazy – cables with mosaic and cables with stranded colorwork. It’s a pretty wild ride – you know, for a knitting book.

The projects are all pretty and look manageable. Patterns are both written and charted, and the book has large enough type that everything is clearly readable, which is nice. Each of the new techniques and refinements are clearly illustrated, which is great considering some of these projects are on the complex side.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to do a little more fanciness with their cable knitting!
Have you looked into any new knitting or other crafting techniques lately? What has sparked your creativity?
Those are some impressive cables in those images!
So I tried to learn cables while with my knitting goddess friend Helen in Ireland who regularly teaches knitting and it appears I am hopeless, ha!

I have done a lot of cabling – not quite to that level, but I plan to give it a try!

I’m a fan of the traveling cables with the thin stripes in the background.

Traditional cables are enough of a ride for me. 😂 One time I had a friend knit a cabled pattern with variegated yarn, and I was like, “You can do that?” 😜

Can and should – two different things 😉

These look cool! I could happily knit some of these patterns. (Not that cables by themselves are boring. But I’ve seen some cases of cables + lace that look really stunning and I want to try some.)

They do! Agree – I enjoy cable knitting just as it is. But some of these look just beautiful 🙂

I love the way cables and lace look together, even though I also enjoy knitting both of those separately too. 🙂

It’s been a while since I did cables, I mostly did them when I was learning to knit, like my first cardigan with different cables on the sleeves and front panels, of course lots of hats and an iPad cover but not a huge amount done or planned. Maybe I’ll have a little look what’s in my Ravelry library as I’m back to nothing (except habitation throw) on my needles.
