It’s that time of year again! Shark Week is coming up, and for some reason the yarn world has embraced it like never before. Not sure how that happened, but I have been taking full advantage and adding to my stash 🙂 I didn’t get all of this at once – it’s been building up for a little while. But now that the season is upon us, I thought I’d share in case anyone else is feeling sharky.

From Crafty Like A Monkey on Etsy, I got this very cool Jaws project bag, which came with the surprise stitch marker extra! It fits a couple skeins of yarn – good for a medium size project.

Katrinkles stitch markers of the month and notion of the month embraced the theme.

Fangirl Fibers did a Jaws themed countdown for the end of July with these awesome stitch markers, an Amity 1975 project bag, and some yarn.

And finally, Pancake and Lulu is doing a series of monthly yarn clubs based on Wes Anderson films. In a possibly unrelated coincidence, this month was The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou! I got the coordinating solid color (Zissou red) and the “Director’s Cut” package, which is the fun extra gifties. The stitch marker is a whale shark! A jaguar shark would have been slightly better, but only very slightly.
I don’t have any patterns in mind for any of it as yet, though I’m confident something will come up!
Have you done any stash enhancement lately? What did you find?
What a great haul! You’re gonna need a bigger crafting space.

THe latest Casapinka MKAL is coming and I am so resisting the urge to buy a kit. First I must shop the stash, but I kind of think that I am getting ready to do some serious stash enhancement… There are so many great colors right now, and fall is coming!!

This is so much fun! I have purchased some new yarn this month, but it’s a dye-to-order and so it hasn’t arrived yet. Nothing nearly as themed as your shark week things!

In total honesty, I’m not even that into sharks. I just really enjoy how shark week has become such a thing over the years. And I do love a yarn countdown!

I can see that! I’m not particularly into sharks specifically either, but I do love learning about ocean creatures so I’ve embraced that aspect of shark week!

Very true! You can learn a lot about the ocean in general from the shark week programs

A little while back, a speedrun community we follow hosted some aquarium folks to commentate for ocean-themed video games for ocean week. That was the most fun I’ve had while learning in a long time.

It was so neat! But they also enjoyed puns, so if that wasn’t your kind of humor you probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much. I however love good puns, so it was great.

The shark stuff is so cool! I am working on a fabric basket for a friend who loved sharks, he’s even swam with them.

Wow! I would not do that, but they are interesting creatures 🙂 Are you using shark fabric?
