My red, white, and blue version of the Shooting Star scarf is finished! All in all it took me about a week to make, so it’s a pretty quick project. It uses roughly a single skein’s worth of fingering weight yarn, and is a great way to use up either scraps or a miniskein bundle. The designer’s Ravelry store is closed, but you can buy her patterns at her website here. The yarn is the Patriotic miniskein bundle from Nanette Wake studio, who has a shop on Etsy.
This was another project where blocking was magic. It was so short and stumpy when I was finished knitting it, but really opened out when it got in the water. Which was a big relief!
A lot of knitters, including the designer, stretch the star out so it is flat along one side and spiky on the other. I liked it better sort of coiled up though. Who knows, maybe I will make another one and block it out that way 🙂

This is so cool! But now I’m thinking of other color options too, to fit with shooting stars in the sky or other firework colors. And of course all the sparkly yarn. 😉 Yours looks great! I like having the star spiky on all sides, too.
