My Mom is now encouraging me in my rare breed yarn nuttiness, and very kindly gifted me some yarn from the SE2SE list. It is from Florida Cracker sheep, which is an actual breed of sheep even though the name makes it sound like sheep that Florida Man would have 🙂
It was bought from Pioneer Fiber Mill’s Etsy shop. The undyed skein on the right is what she bought – they sent along the blue skein on the left as “a little extra”! It also came with a lovely Christmas card from their team, as well as the SE2SE passport stamp. For anyone looking to pick up a skein or two of this type of yarn, I definitely recommend them! They also have Gulf Coast Native and Jacob roving, for anyone looking for spinning fiber on the SE2SE list. They also have a little bit of a sense of humor.
The yarn itself is very springy, squishy yarn. It is not super soft, but not scratchy. Between the two skeins, I believe I have around 270 yards of worsted/aran weight yarn. If you have any project ideas for it, throw them my way! I don’t know that it’s next-to-skin soft – I’ll have to try the prickle test on it and report back 🙂
