Mini-Shawl Mania!

I had so much fun playing around and learning on Saturday that I spent Sunday afternoon messing around with more mini-shawl shapes. I didn’t use any patterns, just cast on and figured out what I needed to do to make certain shaping things happen.

It was so much fun that now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t take one evening or weekend day a week and use it to just play around with different techniques or stitch patterns or whatever.

I’m mostly a product knitter, but maybe I can interject a little process knitting into my life 🙂 We’ll see!

Do you like to play around with your crafts or hobbies? Or are you more results-oriented? Do you ever try to go counter to your nature on that, and if so, how does it work out for you?

    1. I have done a little designing. I did a cowl, and also designed a shawl but never published the pattern. Was just thinking about finishing that back up and putting it out!

  1. I think it sounds like a great idea!
I guess I’m process knitter. I enjoy picking out the yarn and pattern and knitting the item. But once it’s done I’m ready for the next project more than excited with the finished item.

  2. Process resulting in product for me! I tend to have just one or two projects at a time (obsessive, much?), so I do all my experimentation on it, and hopefully end up with a product that I can publish.

I love your little minis experimentation, very fun!

  3. I want to love the idea of this, but I think I’m too much of a product knitter to really enjoy it. I’d rather just choose a project that has something new and try to figure it out that way. Like last year was “year of the stranded colorwork” where I made an effort to try and do a lot of stranded colorwork projects to improve my technique there.
